This vintage Suzani was hand-embroidered and hand-sewn in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. in 1930-40s.

Suzani is a traditional tribal fabric, hand-embroidered by women in Central Asia. It was usually made by a mother as a dowry for when her daughter gets married and presented to the groom on the wedding day. The daughter is then supposed to finish the unfinished part. Suzani comes from a Persian word, which means needle.

Inside the colorful fringes comes Khan Atlas, then patchwork of silk & cotton fabric, then Suzani. The backside has a flower pattern fabric sewn together.

This can be used as a table center, wall hanging, or a decoration in your home. As it is a vintage item, it may have minor stain, or loose threads.

Size: about 62 x 59 cm (without fringes) + fringe of 6-7 cm
