Natural dye - Jack fruit heart wood

Have you ever seen or eaten Jack fruit? I had not until I lived in Laos.

(see below photo of the Jack fruit if you have never seen them) This tree is ideal to grow in tropical lowland as it originates in South Asia to South East Asia.

The heart wood of this fruit can give a yellow color to silk, using the alum mordant.

You can produce different shades of yellow with this plant.
