Imari /Arita ware

Imari/ Arita ware are produced around the town of Arita in Saga, Japan. They are known for its light and delicate yet durable porcelain. 

The features are its fine and smooth surface as well as the painting by bright white, indigo and red colors.  

It dates back to 1616 - at the time, overglazing was not yet done, which started around 1647. Ceramics with red painting called aka-e was known as Kakiemon-style ceramic and was even mimiced by Meissen.
