"The seven herb rice porridge" in your favorite pottery

"The seven herb rice porridge" is a traditional food eaten on the morning of 7th January in Japan. 

The rice porridge includes 7 different kinds of herbs such as water dropwort, shepherd's purse, cudweed, chickweed, henbit, turnip, daikon radish. In some cases, one puts Mochi (rice cake).

It is said that this custom began around 8th Century. Its original intention is to protect oneself against evils and invite good luck and longevity by eating the seven herbs that endure the cold winter.
