Luang Prabang - ancient capital of Laos

Luang Prabang is a city in Northern Laos, whose city center is on UNESCO world's hearitage list. Current Laos used to be in 3 separate kingdoms and Luang Prabang was the capital of Lan Xang kingdom. 

As Laos was a French colony between 1893 and 1953, there are many colonical buildings that are preserved and utilised as hotels, cafes, restaurants and so on.

It is located on a peninsula between the Mekong River and Nam Khan River. You can relax on the bank of those rivers when you visit.

Luang Prabang is the center of tourism in Laos and there are many cultural heritage such as Wat Xieng Thong, Royal Palace Museum etc. as well as natural sites such as Kuang Si waterfall to visit. It has also tradition of handcrafts such as silk & cotton dying /weaving, paper making and so on.
